The collective "Les ArtPenteurs"
is concerned with developing an experimental artistic process
at the meeting point between environmental preoccupations
and the current forms of artistic expression in all their
diversity. With the creation of the " Espace Ecologique
d'Art en Pleine Nature " a singular process of artistic
creation has been engaged. The "Bois des Artpenteurs"
is situated in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by
farms and agricultural land, on a site threatened by state
expropriation due to a motorway construction project and is
far from any clearly defined museum, stage or theatre space.
Many projects will be able to find a place
in the " Espace Ecologique d'Art en Pleine Nature ".
First of all, of course, are those that share the founding
options of the collective "Les ArtPenteurs". Secondly,
there are all those that have a different orientation but
are able to develop a dialectic articulation with the initially
defined perspectives.
For interested artists " L'espace Ecologique
d'Art en Pleine Nature " currently offers two possibilities
of intervention at the site :
They can inscribe their work within the framework of the "
printemps des ArtPenteurs". From the 12th of April till
the 30th of June, the " bois des ArtPenteurs " is
a collective workshop, a laboratory, an experimental, open-air,
natural area for artistic creation and it is open most of
the time.
During this period certain artists who contribute to the "
summer project " will be working at the site. Other artists
can also work there under certain conditions (by informing
the project coordinators and obtaining their permission, not
interfering with or damaging the already installed oeuvres
or polluting the site, making sure that their work space is
clean and ready before the end of June, respecting certain
sites already reserved by other artists…).
Artists wishing to participate in the summer
exhibition should send a dossier to the
artistic coordinator of the "Bois des Artpenteurs"
(project presentation, working methods and curriculum vitae).
Creating an oeuvre at the site during the experimental workshop
in the spring is another way of presenting a project.
When a project has been accepted, the association
will assure the communication concerning the artistic intervention.
Certain materials and certain machines for manipulating these
materials can be obtained to facilitate the artist's work.
Within a certain measure accommodation and a helping hand
on site can also be organised…
However, the association is not an organisation
with the vocation to assure projects in which financial management
(particularly including the remuneration of artistic activity)
has an important place.
